"Murder Algorithm!" the latest exciting instalment of X-06: FUTURESPY is available now

"We are ALL robots... Slaves to our own programmed commands. Or to our superiors. You are a robot too, I think...?" Continuing the story started in “EVERY HOME SHOULD HAVE ONE". Stay tuned for the next instalment, "KILL TRANSMISSION". About X-06: FUTURESPY: X-06: FUTURESPY is the cult 1960’s puppet TV show that you can’t remember because it never happened. Inspired by classic British spy and sci-fi telly of the sixties, X-06: FUTURESPY is deliberately presented as a “lost” old-fashioned period piece. The hisses and crackles you hear on this recording are quite deliberate, as low-fidelity is to be expected from audio retrieved by laser-accelerated spectography from a parallel universe 1965.  You can  READ ,  WATCH  and  LISTEN  to FUTURESPY adventures. Watch the TV show that never existed!

Image
"Whilst I've done a little  writing  and a tiny bit of animation in the past, in order to "resurrect" X-06: FUTURESPY, in the last few months I've had to become a producer, scriptwriter, actor, sound effects guy (making whooshing noises with my spit, mainly) editor and distributer. I've developed a new-found respect for YouTubers creating "content" - it is bloody hard work, made all the more painful when you release something, and it only gets a handful of views. Or one, as one video got. Why do it then? It isn't to sell books; I thank those of you who got a copy. I want to share this silly thing I've made with people. I want to honour my TV heroes. I wanted to get off my butt and make something - blame Nebula-75 for providing inspiration for that. Also, I want to try and get some return on decades of sitting in from of the telly watching Patrick McGoohan or Scott Tracy, or Illya Kuryakin..." Here's the final product then - the

Coming Soon - You Haven't Been Yourself Lately novelisation

Image
London. 2065. Two men, both with secrets to hide, play MIND GAMES deep inside a TOP SECRET underground base. There can be only one winner as the Space Age Spy X-06 plays for his very sanity against the sinister DR INNOCENT! FROM THE AUTHOR: I 've always wanted to write a novelisation since I fell in love the great Terrance Dick's book of DR WHO AND THE REVENGE OF THE CYBERMEN when it was re-released by Virgin Books in the early 1990's. After having (nearly) completed an animation of my non-existent 1960s spy-fi TV show, the scripts were ripe for making into a very short novel. It's been an interesting experience turning a script into prose, and I found myself repeatedly correcting little details, and in a few instances, I really felt that the scriptwriter must have been an idiot. I'll tell him that to his face next time I look in the mirror. This won't just be a straight copy of the transcript of the episode - there's a few additional scenes added, some cut

Some details and a few pages of the script of the penultimate episode of X-06 FUTURESPY have come into our possession. A FUTURECAR for FUTURESPY?

Image
Presenting the "British Bug", X-06's vehicle of choice when on assignments in the United Kingdom. This is not a flashy, gadget laden vehicle- It is a common, average hover car that simply gets you from a to b. X-06 favours it as it is speedy but doesn't draw unnecessary attention.

Thank you for sharing

Image
No news or new content today - just a thank you to all who help spread the word about X-06 FUTURESPY.  I'm very conscious that many of my posts might be seen as marketing spam, and I only put out links to this blog or to the you tube videos very reluctantly.  This marketing is a necessary evil as I want people to be aware of and read the book, but I hope the content I'm creating for these posts is interesting and overrides the feeling you're being "sold" something.  Hopefully a big social media "influencer" will take a shine to this project and share it with their millions of followers. Then I can give it a rest!! But seriously, every link shared or liked on the social media channels is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

X-06 :FUTURESPY Episode "Red Moon One" Animated Reconstruction test

Image
An attempt was made around 2005 to reconstruct one of the "lost" episodes of 1960's spy-fi show "X-06: FUTURESPY". 'Red Moon One" sees the titular hero investigate a rebellion within a Soviet moonbase, and in the animated scene he is creeping around looking for secret documents. The animation was sadly judged as unsuccessful, so full episodes did not materialise. Comments came from fans like "It looks like it's been made in someone's bedroom." and "Why do they all walk funny?". FUTURESPY super fan Adrian Pixel complained, "Why can't this no-budget animation made by one person have the same production values as multi-million dollar efforts like Toy Story? I for one will not buy this cr&p." You may be wondering what the heck this is all about. If so, please do check out What's it all about?

Title sequence and theme tune

Ah... this might bring back (false) memories... The stripped back titles and partly electronic theme music would have alerted sixties kids that their favourite TV show was about to start. Get ready. Here we go! Dun dun Dunn! Dun dun Dunn!

It's entirely understandable that you've never heard of X-06 FUTURESPY before. It's the cult 1960s spy-fi TV show that never existed. But that hasn't stopped me writing a book based on it...

Extensive research is being carried out to understand the history of X-06: FUTURESPY on television, and while there's many blanks to fill in, a picture is emerging of the shape of the 26 episode run.  What we know so far is now available to view here in the  Episode Guide  and this will be kept updated as more information comes to light (and as I come up with new story ideas!)

Well, the declassification process is now complete and X-06: FUTURESPY is now available to order I'm keeping the price very low in the first few weeks on sale - I do realise you're taking a risk on a self-published amateur - I'd  also ask that you to remember this should you feel the need to review the book afterwards! Thank you to those of you who have shared my tweets so far, it would be great to get a few more RTs, if you feel your followers would enjoy this. There's a bit more information here  and also a video.

Stand by for announcement!

... an announcement is about to be made!

Available to order from next week

Image
X-06: FUTURESPY will be made available to order from next week. Come back here then or subscribe for more details. 111 pages, containing 3 short spy-fi thrillers. I see them as novelisations of episodes of a lost TV show, but they work as short stories just as well. The book is self-published and will be available through LULU at the lowest price I can set it at. This is my lockdown project, and I’m making it available in order to share it with likeminded 60’s telefantasy fans like myself, rather than having the aim of becoming a rich and successful author (As if!). So I would appreciate as many ‘shares’ as possible - those of you who have already liked or shared the details of this project have my gratitude!

It is very vain of me but I couldn’t resist putting a draft copy of the forthcoming book on a shelf with its spiritual brothers and sisters. More details will follow soon. If this is of interest to you, please share and subscribe to this blog.

What’s this? Looks like a book cover to me

Image
The declassification process continues but we’re reasonably confident the X-06: FUTURESPY book will be made available for your eyes only within a matter of weeks. I realise this is all a bit weird... a faked novelisation of three non-existent TV shows that were never transmitted because I only just thought it up this year... but I hope you find it was worth your time and attention.  I will say that if you are a fan of any (or all) of the following there is something especially for you in these stories: Thunderbirds Captain Scarlet Stingray Doctor Who The Prisoner Danger Man The Man From UNCLE ... basically everything broadcasted on the UK’s BBC2 in their early evening ‘cult tv’ slot during the 1990s plus an extra sprinkle of McGoohan!

What the fans said: Sadie loves X-06!

Image
In contrast to David Smellie’s review, young Sadie from Lancaster clearly enjoyed the show... perhaps a little too much.... from Girlie Weekly magazine:

Not everyone liked the show!

Image
Hard to believe, but not all contemporary reviews of X-06: FUTURESPY were favourable. It was especially disliked by TV critic David Smellie, who wrote about the show at least a couple of times in his column, ‘David Smellie on last nights telly’: Just goes to show that you can’t please everyone, especially grumpy old critics!

TV listing cuttings from a parallel past

Image
I thought it’d be fun to fake some historical documents -yes, I’m that kind of guy.... The ‘teleplays’ of these - entirely imaginary - adventures form the basis of the novelisation to be released within the next few weeks.  Would you have circled these in your TV guide?
