Cast Announcement

X-06: FUTURESPY returns on Friday in a special episode called ‘The Brain Centre’!

Nothing good on the telly? Why not listen to the podcast audiodrama that thinks it’s a 1960s cult spy-fi TV show?

Joining James Baxter in this special episode - returning as Space Age Spy X-06 - is an international cast of talented individuals. In alphabetical order:

Scott Campbell plays Sir Jeremy Charteris, Minister of Defence for Great Britain. Scott is a writer/director/actor/editor for mickeefaust.com

Additional voices are provided by Giles Cosgrove, an award-winning writer, producer, and presenter on Somerset's Tone FM.

Niamh Griffiths is a talented poet and has just finished recording a lead role for Series 3 of the award-winning Fresher's audiodrama. Niamh plays the callous Professor Day in ‘the Brain Centre’.

Kat Leroy is a Czech-English actress with an impressive CV of audio, theatrical and feature film productions. Kat is playing Nadia, a conflicted Soviet agent.

Cai Ross is a film and food writer, voice actor and restaurateur. Cai plays the highly-strung Dr Blake.

Playing Controller Volkov; Matthew Woodcock. Matthew is a leading voice actor, known for Two Flat Earthers, Monster Hunters and Down. He also trawls the BBC Archives to provide Doctor Who content via BBC Sounds.

Series Creator James Baxter says: ‘What a talented bunch! I am honoured to have them read lines I've written! Some of the cast were already familiar with the show and some were not. I was worried at first, handing the script over to them, whether they’d get it. Let’s face it, the whole style and concept of FUTURESPY is pretty weird to the uninitiated. But everyone has really risen to the occasion and I’m keen for listeners to hear them perform!’

Music is provided by the mysterious Mister Brown, and this episode marks the debut of a new theme tune composed by the maestro himself. Stay tuned for a blast of the new theme and a short trailer within the next few days.

X-06: FUTURESPY is made for love, not money, by an individual - not a company - from his cupboard in Oxford, UK. It’s entirely non-monetized and costs an awful lot of cash and time and effort to produce. If you like the show, please let the world know about it and encourage new listeners. You have authorisation from the British Security Service to use force if necessary.

X:06 FUTURESPY returns for a one-off story... In tonight's episode, “Sea Dragon”, Space Age Spy X-06 faces his toughest assignment yet - to destroy an underwater supercomputer! X-06: FUTURESPY is the cult 1960’s TV show that you can’t remember because it never happened.... Inspired by classic British spy and sci-fi telly of the sixties, X-06: FUTURESPY is deliberately presented as a “lost” old-fashioned period piece. Any hisses and crackles you hear on this recording are quite deliberate, as low-fidelity is to be expected from audio retrieved by laser-accelerated spectography from a parallel universe 1966. What’s this? Looks like a book cover to me

The declassification process continues but we’re reasonably confident the X-06: FUTURESPY book will be made available for your eyes only within a matter of weeks. I realise this is all a bit weird... a faked novelisation of three non-existent TV shows that were never transmitted because I only just thought it up this year... but I hope you find it was worth your time and attention.  I will say that if you are a fan of any (or all) of the following there is something especially for you in these stories: Thunderbirds Captain Scarlet Stingray Doctor Who The Prisoner Danger Man The Man From UNCLE ... basically everything broadcasted on the UK’s BBC2 in their early evening ‘cult tv’ slot during the 1990s plus an extra sprinkle of McGoohan!
